Terry the Moose, sad old men, street whores and me...a night in the all male burlesque the NYTimes called "a Bawdy Gay Beacon," the Gaiety Burlesque. Use what your mama gave you, 'cause a boy's gotta earn living somehow.
That wasn’t McHale’s was it? McHale’s window on the street side had Gaiety etched into the glass. I was in a Giaimo and Giaimo tenement at 45th and 10th during the crack years. Not a user; just lucky to score a $295 a month apartment
No, the Gaiety Burlesque was a second floor burlesque stage, above Howard Johnsons, corner of 46th and Broadway. All boys. All nude. It was a hoot and it was gone by 2005, pushed out by Guiliani and Disney.
McHales — the original McHales, with bars on the windows by the time it went out of business in 2006— was, if memory serves, on 46th but on the 8th Avenue corner. Apparently it used to be called the Gaiety Cafe (I didn't know that until now). Here's a good little bit of McHales history: https://punchdrink.com/articles/mchales-new-york-theater-district-bar/

No matter what, it was better than the Holland.

"His thick moose-boy cock comes out swinging like a cop’s nightstick to a disco beat." This is now on my list of favorite sentences.
it was memorable, it deserved a good sentence.
